January Washington, DC Restaurant WeekWashington Auto Show February March National Cherry Blossom Festival -- For 12 days each April, filmgoers take a cinematic journey around the world, without ever leaving the nation's capital. The Washington, DC International Film Festival brings outstanding world cinema right to Washington, DC with more than 100 features, documentaries, short films and special programs. St. Patrick's Day Parade April Filmfest DC – Washington International Film Festival -- For 12 days each April, filmgoers take a cinematic journey around the world, without ever leaving the nation's capital. The Washington, DC International Film Festival brings outstanding world cinema right to Washington, DC with more than 100 features, documentaries, short films and special programs. Cherry -- The weekend dance benefit with manysocial events and an all-night dance party is popularwith locals and visitors alike. Funds generated fromthe events benefit a number of local gay and lesbian nonprofits. Cherry began several years ago when a group of local residents got together and planned a charity fundraiser. Using modest financial resources, the all-volunteer organization put on a weekend of music, dance and celebration. In the last three years the annual events have raised over $840,000 for local organizations focused on gay and lesbian causes. In addition, Cherry events have won national accolades for their great production values, stunning venues, and ability to bring in world-class talent. Smithsonian Craft Show -- The Anniversary Craft show features 120 artists, 39 of them first time exhibitors, chosen from a highly competiive applicant pool numbering over 1000. They work in diverse media, including baskets, ceramics, decorative fiber, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, paper, wearable art and wood. Hourly Booth chats give visitors a chance to hear the artists discuss their individual approach to creating useful and beautiful objects for the individual and the home.
